Jean, born in the Philippines and raised in California, holds a BS in Molecular Biology and a minor in Psychology from UC San Diego. She delved into neurodegenerative disease research at UCSD and studied higher-order chromatin structure's impact on human health and disease at Salk Institute. An avid mental health advocate, Jean volunteered for NAMI Friends Resource Helpline. Discovering her passion for genetic counseling, she became a GC assistant at UCSF and joined the GC Prospective Student Network executive board. She co-founded the Undocumented GC Network, supporting underserved, undocumented communities and sharing DACA/undocumented experiences. For fun, Jean enjoys baking for loved ones. She is fluent in English and conversant in Tagalog.
