Sofia is from San Diego, CA and graduated from UC Berkeley in 2020 with a degree in Molecular & Cell Biology and a minor in Italian Studies. At Berkeley, she studied aging-related genes as an Undergraduate Researcher in the Dillin lab. After graduating, she studied 3D genome organization as a Research Assistant in the Dixon lab at the Salk Institute, and later transitioned to clinical work as an Administrative Coordinator for a team of Oncology Genetic Counselors at Scripps Health. In her free time, she loves going to movie theaters, exploring art museums, or listening to new music. She is natively fluent in Italian and Spanish, and hopes to practice as an English/Spanish Bilingual Genetic Counselor in the future.
